About the brand

Who Happy Floors Is

Happy Floors is imported porcelain and ceramic tile from Italian and Spanish makers. Harmony Flooring carries it at our Madison showroom and helps you choose, measure and schedule the work. The company started as a small tile shop in Boca Raton in 1987. It’s one of several lines of tile flooring in Madison we carry.

Most of the line is porcelain. The looks lean toward refined European design. Think polished marble and warm terracotta. There’s also soft concrete and long wood-look planks. The line covers floor tile and wall tile. It also includes mosaics and outdoor pavers.

We feature Happy Floors tile in Madison because it gives you a high-end look that’s built for daily life. It’s a natural fit for entryways that see salt and slush all winter. Harmony Flooring has helped Madison homeowners pick floors since 2009.

Best rooms

Where It Works Best

Entryways and Mudrooms. Porcelain stands up to salt and slush. It wipes clean in seconds.

Bathrooms. Porcelain doesn’t mind water. Pick a natural or matte finish for the floor.

Kitchens. Wood-look plank gives you a warm look without worrying about spills.

Basements. Tile can go right over a concrete slab. We check it for moisture and cracks first.

Floors With Radiant Heat. Tile spreads warmth well. Heated floors and porcelain are a classic pair.

Buying tips

What to Know Before You Buy

Porcelain vs Ceramic

Porcelain is denser than ceramic and absorbs less water. That makes it the better pick for floors and wet rooms. Ceramic is great on walls and backsplashes. Happy Floors sells both, so ask which one a tile is before you fall for it.

Check the Slip Rating

Polished tile looks stunning but it can be slick when wet. For bath and entry floors look at the DCOF number on the spec sheet. Tile rated 0.42 or higher is generally considered suitable for level indoor floors that get wet. We’ll pull the spec sheet for any tile you like.

Plan the Grout

Grout color changes the whole look. A matching color makes a floor feel calm. A contrasting color shows off the pattern. Rectified tile has crisp edges that allow thinner grout lines. Ask about stain-resistant grout for kitchens and entries.

Radiant Heat Works Well

Porcelain and radiant heat are a great match. An electric mat under a bathroom floor is a popular upgrade in Wisconsin. Plan it before the tile goes down. It can’t be added later without pulling up the floor.

Large Format Needs a Flat Floor

Big tiles like 24×48 look sleek with fewer grout lines. They also need a very flat subfloor. Any dip or hump can cause lippage. That’s when one tile edge sits higher than the next. Our trusted local installers check and level the subfloor first.
