Sun Prairie is the closest of the big suburbs to our showroom. Highway 151 to the Beltline east, exit at Stoughton Road, about 20 minutes from the Main Street or Reiner Road exits. Plenty of Sun Prairie customers stop in on the way home from work. Plenty more have us come out instead.

What We See in Sun Prairie Houses

Sun Prairie has grown faster than any town around Madison, from about 20,000 people in 2000 to around 36,000 today. That means a lot of houses built in the last 25 years: Smith’s Crossing, Hickory Grove, Meadow Crossing, Stoneridge Estates, Providence and Wyndam Hills. Almost all of them went in with builder-grade carpet and vinyl. By year eight or ten, the kitchen and hallway look tired while the rest of the house still looks new. Replacing the main floor is the most common Sun Prairie job we do.

The older side of town is different. Carriage Hill, Royal Oaks, Vandenburg Heights, Village View Heights and the blocks near downtown have 1960s to 1990s ranches and split-levels. Some still have hardwood under the carpet. We check before we quote.

Downtown has Cannery Square, and there are townhomes and condos all over town, like Prairie Towne, Gateway Village and the Villas at Meadow Crossing. Sound underlayment and building hours come up often. We know the drill.

Sun Prairie is one school district, Sun Prairie Area, with two high schools now, East and West. It’s a young town with a lot of kids and dogs, so we talk about scratches, spills and stain protection more here than anywhere else we serve.

There’s also a lot of rental housing, plus the offices and warehouses along Highway 151. Apartment turnovers and commercial jobs go through our commercial side. Same number.

How a Sun Prairie Project Goes

Call, text or email us about the room. Come see the full floor at the showroom, or we bring samples to your kitchen table, measure, and check the subfloor. You get one written price before anything is ordered. Builder-grade swaps are usually quick to quote because the rooms are standard sizes.

Local installers we’ve worked with for years do the work. One Harmony coordinator lines up tear-out, haul-away, furniture, install and cleanup, then checks the finished floor. A whole main floor in a Sun Prairie two-story usually takes two to three days.

Dishwasher leak or a washer hose? We’ll talk to your insurance adjuster and give them the measurements and quote they need. And to try a floor in your own room before you decide, use our online visualizer with a photo of the room.

Our Sun Prairie house is about ten years old and the builder’s floors are worn. What do most people do?

Replace the main floor with vinyl plank and put new carpet in the bedrooms. It’s the most common job we do in Sun Prairie. Standard room sizes make it quick to quote and quick to install.

What’s the best flooring for a Sun Prairie basement?

Vinyl plank, tile or a carpet made for below grade. Solid hardwood is out because of moisture. We check the slab first. Read our basement flooring guide.

My floor was damaged by a leak. Do you work with insurance?

Yes. We’ll talk to your insurance adjuster and give them the measurements and quote they need. You handle the claim itself.

Do you do apartment turnovers and commercial flooring in Sun Prairie?

Yes. Apartment turnovers between tenants, offices and retail along Highway 151 and Main Street. See our commercial flooring page.
